You’ve probably read them all—we understand. There are literally thousands of articles online that list ideas on how to make money online. Many of these are only sales gimmicks, trying to get you to buy an ebook or sign up for a course or webinar, while other articles offer you a thousand ways to become a millionaire while working online part time.

People are fed up with these types of articles. We are, too. While these other articles make wild claims, we’re here to tell you it really is possible to make money online.

Tips for Making Money Online

Before we take a look at some ways you can make real money online, we’re going to share some tips to help you earn.

  • Treat it seriously: as with any job, you need to treat the opportunity seriously. This means you need to treat online work as if it was a regular job. When you’re working from home, it’s OK to work in your PJs and bunny slippers. No one will know. But it’s important to understand that you need to take this whole earning online and working online seriously.

If you apply for an online job, then treat it as you would an offline job. There’s a lot of competition for online work, so if you don’t take it seriously chances are you’ll be passed over for the next job candidate.

  • Act in a professional manner: even when you’re working from home, you need to act like a professional. If submitting a resume, make sure to use the spell checker on it and proofread the document before sending it in. Use good grammar, too.

And if you’re also asked to provide some background information, that’s OK. Keep it relevant, without sharing your whole life story.

  • Don’t do free work: if a potential job offer requires samples of your work, that’s OK. You can provide a sample or a link to your online work or portfolio. If they ask you to write a sample article for them, it should be relatively short, not a long expose.
  • Double check submissions: when you’re preparing to send in a resume, writing samples or whatever, make sure to doublecheck everything before you make the submission. Be sure to check your grammar and sentence structure and again, use spell check. Make sure to spell names correctly, too.

Now we’re ready to take a look at some of the ways you can earn money online!

Websites that Pay

1). Kerching: we offer various ways to earn money such as taking surveys, shopping with online retailers and more. So, if you find yourself at loose ends, and you’re just surfing the web, then give this site a try to earn some extra money.

2). Fab Freebies: here’s another fun site to earn. Fab Freebies adds new freebies, samples, surveys and competitions every day.

3). User Testing: on this site, all you have to do is visit a website or use an app, then complete a set of tasks and share your thoughts out loud, and then get paid! Testing websites is a great way to earn extra cash. Each test usually takes about 15-20 minutes. As you test the site, you record as you navigate and speak your impressions of the site out loud. The recording will be used by the site’s owner to make sure the user experience is great.

4). Fiverr: you may have heard of Fiverr—a site where you can perform a service and earn $5 (£3.92) and more. The services you offer are called “gigs,” and you can offer any service you want, as long as it’s legal and fits in with the site’s terms and conditions. For example, you can sell art, write articles, create logos and so much more. The sky’s the limit as to how you can earn money with Fiverr. Plus, you’ll have some fun and meet some great people to work with. What could be better?

Freelance Writing

This is a very popular way to make money online. In fact, you can earn quite a bit as an online freelance writer. This type of work isn’t easy, and it takes a lot of dedication, but if you enjoy writing, this may be a great way to earn an extra income.

To start out, you’ll need to have a website and a blog. The reason is that this is an excellent way to show potential clients writing samples. It’s also a good idea to create a portfolio of your online work to share with prospects.

Having a LinkedIN profile, connected to your website and social media channels, can also be helpful. It’s a great way to network and connect with other writers or clients.

Here are some great websites to get started with your online writing:

5). Listverse: this site will pay $100 (about £78.33) for each post they accept. The articles are actually lists, which must be at least 1,500 words long and include 10 things in the list. What a fun, creative way to earn online!

6). Funds for Writers: this site pays $50 (about £39.17) for each post they accept. They want articles on writing and making money with your writing. Articles must be between 500-600 words, so be sure to keep your writing tight. They also want you to avoid passive voice. This is another great writing opportunity to make money online.

Sell Extra Stuff

Another great way to make some money online is to sell your extra stuff. Think of all that stuff that’s stored in the garage, the closet or the attic. If you’re not using it, why not put it to good use and earn some cash with those items?

You’ll need to get a PayPal account, which is a safe and secure way to accept payments online.

Pictures are also important when selling items online, so be sure your pictures are clear and taken in a good light. This way, potential buyers can see what they’re buying.

Try selling your extra items on these sites:

7). Amazon: everyone shops on Amazon! To make money on this site, you’ll need to use FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon). This means that you buy projects or choose some of your own stuff to sell. Then you shop it to Amazon, where they take care of shipping your items once they’ve been sold. After this, Amazon sends you the money, after taking their cut, of course. Many people find this a great way to make money online. In fact, some people even make this into a full-time job.

8). eBay: this is another popular site where you can make money online. The way to start is by creating an eBay store and then choose some of your stuff to sell. You can also attend retail sales to buy products at a steep discount, and then resell them for a higher price on eBay.

These are only a few of the ways you can make money online. Remember to treat this as you would an offline job. Maintain a professional attitude and stay dedicated. It can take some time, but if you stay with it, you’ll soon be earning a nice income online!
